Something to give
Stuck for a gift? Draw ideas - practical, experiences, personal, or costing nothing.
Runs locally in your browser. Nothing you generate is ever sent to a server.
Press "Generate Idea" to see a result here.
Kind of gift
Press Generate and an idea comes up. It is not trying to know the person - it is trying to break the blank stare, which is the actual problem when you have been thinking about the same three options for a week.
The gifts people remember are almost never the most expensive ones. They are the ones that prove somebody was listening - the book they mentioned in passing, the class for the hobby they keep talking about. That is why so many entries here are prompts to notice something rather than products: the value is in the noticing, and no amount of money substitutes for it.
The Free category is worth looking at before the others. Doing the chore somebody dreads, sorting out the admin they keep postponing, or writing down what you actually like about them are all things people remember years later. They cost time rather than money, which is precisely why they land.
Set the quantity to eight. Choosing between eight options you did not think of is much easier than trying to generate one from nothing, and the one you keep coming back to is usually the answer. Copy All takes the list with you.
The list is filtered to the category you chose, then an idea is drawn using your browser's cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, so nothing is favoured. Batches without repeats use a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by the same source.
Press Generate and an idea comes up. Draw a few and pick the one that fits the person - the point is to break the blank, not to decide for you.
Yes. The filter covers practical items, experiences, personal gifts, small gifts and gifts that cost nothing.
Yes, and they are often the best received. The Free filter covers things like doing a chore they hate for a month, or teaching them something you know.
Specific beats expensive. A cheap thing that shows you remembered something they said lands better than an expensive thing that could have been for anyone.

Yes. Each idea is drawn with your browser's cryptographic random source, so everything in the chosen category has an equal chance.
