Most never have I ever lists lean on drinking and confessions, and those versions only work with a specific group in a specific mood. They also fail badly with a mixed group, where one person ends up exposed. The statements here are about ordinary experiences, which keeps everyone in the game and still produces the surprise the game is for - it is usually the mundane ones that reveal something.
The Kids filter matters more than it looks. A statement about missing a flight leaves a child with nothing to say, and a round where someone cannot participate is a round they stop enjoying. These are experiences children can genuinely have had or not had.
The Work category sticks to working life - sending an email to the wrong person, unmuting too late. It gets the same laugh without asking anyone to disclose anything from outside the office, which is what makes it usable as a team icebreaker rather than something HR hears about.
The list is filtered to the category you chose, then a statement is drawn using your browser's cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, so nothing is favoured. Batches without repeats use a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by the same source.
