Question type

About this random question generator

Press Generate and one question appears, ready to ask. The list is grouped so you can match the question to the room: light icebreakers for people who have just met, deeper questions when there is time for a real answer, funny ones to break a silence, simple questions for children, and questions written for work.

Icebreakers that are not awkward

Most icebreaker questions fail for the same two reasons: they are too personal for a group that barely knows each other, or they have only one sensible answer. The questions here are written so anyone can answer in a sentence or two without preparing, and so that the answers naturally lead somewhere.

Questions for meetings and teams

The Work category suits the first two minutes of a team meeting or a one-to-one. They are about how people work rather than who they are, which keeps them useful without straying into private territory. Draw one at the start of each meeting and you have a rotating opener that never repeats within a batch.

Deeper questions for real conversation

The Deep category is for dinners, long journeys and conversations that have room to breathe. These take longer to answer and often work best asked one at a time rather than as a list.

Common uses

How the randomness works

The list is filtered to the category you chose, then a question is drawn using your browser's cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, so every question in that category has an equal chance. Batches without repeats use a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by the same source.

How do I get a random question?

Press Generate and one question appears. Press again for a different one, or raise the quantity to draw several at once.

What kinds of questions are included?

Icebreakers for meeting people, deeper questions for real conversation, funny ones to lighten a room, questions for kids, and questions for work and team meetings.

Are these good icebreaker questions for work?

Yes. The Work and Icebreaker categories are written to be answerable by anyone in a team without being personal or awkward.

Can I get a list of questions to print?

Yes. Set the quantity, press Generate, then Copy All to put the whole set on your clipboard, one per line.

Will the same question repeat?

Not within one batch while No repeats is on. Across separate presses a question can come up again, since each press is a fresh draw.

Is the choice actually random?

Yes. Questions are drawn with your browser's cryptographic random source, so every question in the chosen category has an equal chance.
