What to draw

About this truth or dare generator

Press Generate and a truth or a dare comes up, ready to read out. Everything here is written to be safe and playable in an ordinary room, because the version of this game that goes wrong is the one where somebody feels cornered.

Dares that are actually safe

Most truth or dare lists online drift towards drinking, stunts or humiliation, and those are the dares that end a good evening early. Every dare in this list can be done indoors, sober, in front of family, without risk of injury or embarrassment that lasts. The fun comes from the performance, not from the risk.

Truths that go somewhere

A truth question works when the answer is interesting rather than merely private. The everyday truths here are light and easy to answer; the deeper set is for a group that knows each other and has time. Filter to one or the other depending on how the room feels rather than mixing them and hoping.

Playing with children

The Kids filter is written for a younger group: questions any child can answer and dares that are physical and silly. Nothing needs explaining afterwards, which is what matters when the game is being played at a party with a wide range of ages.

Common uses

How the randomness works

The list is filtered to your chosen set, then a prompt is drawn using your browser's cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, so nothing is favoured. Batches without repeats use a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by the same source.

How do I play truth or dare?

Take turns. On your turn, press Generate and do what comes up - answer the question honestly or carry out the dare.

Are the dares safe?

Yes. Every dare here is harmless and doable indoors - no alcohol, no stunts, nothing that could injure or humiliate anyone.

Is there a version for children?

Yes. The Kids filter keeps to gentle questions and silly, physical dares with nothing to explain afterwards.

Can I get only truths or only dares?

Yes. The filter lets you draw truths, deeper questions, dares or the kids set on their own.

How many players do you need?

Three or more works best. With two people the questions run out of variety quickly and the dares are less fun to watch.

Is the pick actually random?

Yes. Each prompt is drawn with your browser's cryptographic random source, so everything in the chosen filter has an equal chance.
